Blog Post 1: Second Hand Smoke Kills
So this commercial comes on all the time. Its pretty weird seeing toy babies crawling all over the side walks as people walk pass by. This commercial was made by Infect Truths to promote the risk of smoking and what tobacco can do to you and others around you. This particular commercial caught my eye because babies are so vulnerable. They need others to take care of them and nurture them to be healthy and strong. People are walking around and wondering why are these toy babies crawling. As soon as one person picks one up. There is a message on the shirt of the baby saying, ” How do infants avoid second hand smoke? At some point they learn how to crawl.” This was a quote from a Tobacco Executive. The objects and the quote that they use do carry out the message to the public in which are viewing. Smoking around babies can really effect their growth and their body internally. It is true in fact that once they start crawling they can be able to avoid it. But now they are the ones that can be hurt by their loves ones if they are careless. I just really like commercials that give out the message to people and speak the truth of what can happen if your actions are careless.

I would have to agree when you say that this is a very informative commercial in an almost ironic way. I mean in the middle of a city there are baby dolls crawling every where, and they are advertising the fact that babies suffer from second-hand smoking. So, clearly this is an effective strategy to inform people of this sad thing that is happening all over the world. I also like the fact that they didnt have to use any words to capture the attention of the audience which is nice sometimes so then your not having your ear talked off by some spokesperson. Not saying that this is a real picker-upper of a commercial but i thought that the company executed the concept of this ad. Also, I loved the quote that they used, and I think that it impacted alot of people. So, good job on the commercial picking, keep it up.
This commercial is sad because there really are tons of mothers who smoke around their kids and babies. It grosses me out how a mother can do somthing so harmful as to smoke around a baby who does not have a choice, but to stay where they are put, if hes by his mother who is smoking thats were he’ll stay.Second hand smoke is so horrible and personally I know I dont like being around someone when they are smoking,so imagine how a baby could possibly feel. The commercial hopefully will make someone who smokes think, when they decide to light their next cigarette.
Great choice!
in a way i think this commercial is boring to me. i mean it has no music setting the tone and at the same time, its randomly starting the ad with toy babies. that might have been the attention getter but it was very random. but at the same time, if you watch it all the way through, it gives vital information about health and thats what i think makes it worthwhile. im pretty sure everyone has seen this commercial before at least once and it gets kind of boring and sometimes you might just change channels just because you know about it. im not saying its a bad commercial but it just doesnt give me the feel to watch it from beginning to end.
